Who actually likes hip hop?

Dane Cook is unfunny.

I'm mildly curious about something. Growing up in Chicago during the 80's I found myself enjoying the birth and development of house music. House music completely overshadowed the hip-hop scene for me, (and still does in a lot of ways). Back then there was a split between fans of house and fans of hip-hop. There was a pretty weak movement trying to merge the two, but for the most part house fans shunned hip hop and vice-versa.

There was a disco poll I authored some time ago which at this point has an even split of votes. For the posters who voted C, do you enjoy hip hop? This schism between both camps has always fascinated me. I chalk it up to the male bravado, and, uber-masculinity of the hip hop genre. I mean, at its core, house is disco. Disco has a queer history that even some DJs and producers would like to dismiss.

Thoughts?
