"Born To Be Wild" on Electric (The original was perfect. Why the hell did they have to go and fuck it up?)

"Hit the Plane Down" on Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. I like the talking, but that song is just bad bad bad.

"Kooks" on Bowie's Hunky Dory. bleargh. no thanks.

I did not know this until the other day. It made my hating of this song feel slightly shameful.

But not shameful enough to make me stop disliking the song altogether.

Oh yeah, "Nostalgia" on Archers of Loaf's Vee Vee.

Someone thinks "Ann Don't Cry" is a good song? This is the worst Pavement song ever. It's worse than "Hit the Plane Down" and "Stub Your Toe." It's worse than "Major Leagues" and "Fillmore Jive," because absolutely nothing happens in the whole song. It's the puniest and most boring song on a bad album. "The Hexx," on the other hand. On Slow Century, there's a video of them playing this song at Lollapalooza some years before Terror Twilight came out. It's a much heavier and mightier version of the tune, and it's phenomenal. The double drumming is tight, and Spiral Stairs has some badass guitar playing. Way to go, Nigel Godrich.

I sympathize with whomever said "Birthday Pony;" it's definitely the weakest on that album. I think it's the verse rhythm's fault.

"Psychosomatica," definitely. I think it could have been good on WhatFunLifeWas, but TDN production is terrible for that kind of rock song.

"TV Party" is great, and the Damaged version is tops.

"West of the Fields" from Murmur
"Clover" from the Black Taj album (the first of at least two, looks like)

The all-time champ is "Lieber Honig" from the first Neu! album. Why on earth would I want to listen to this after listening to all that. "Don't Sell Your Dreams," another song that tries to end a noisy album by abruptly cutting off the penultimate, loud song and turning the volume down to a whisper, is more effective. It sounds like echoes of all of Y, and it's cool to hear interplay within a band at a tortoise's pace. I'm not sure about the end of the song, though, which just sounds like someone was tossing around some bubble wrap.
