Greatest Living Comedian

When XFM were trying to get their licence by doing month long trial runs in the mid nineties, they were excellent. I woke up to NoMeansNo once.

When they got their licence, the first year was brilliant (and was when they would just get Gervais to sit in on shows, just cos he was funny and pushed the boat out a bit).

When Capitol Radio bought them, they became shit. End of story. Resonance FM was great. I haven't heard it for a long time though.

Now I live in Middlesbrough. I do not listen to the radio ever.

So can anyone tell me what the BBC have done to follow John Peel's show?

Some of Woody Allen's stand up stuff from the 60s is really great. He's not what you'd think he'd be like - very confident, has the whole room eating out of his hand and "please-please-stop-I-can't-take-it-anymore" funny. He's got a story about going moose hunting that kills. The recording of it I heard sounds like it was recorded in someone's Catskills cabin's living room. He's almost losing it himself. Very good.

Bernie Mac's story/joke at the end of "The Original Kings of Comedy" is also top notch.
