I mentioned Hedges upthread too, but this clip is nice. I saw Hedges play at Northwestern U in 1992, I believe it was. Jawdropping.

I know this is an unpopular choice, but could you imagine being a fifteen year old guitarist hearing "Eruption" by Van Halen for the first time on the radio in the summer of 1977?
Pedestrian and even irritating nowadays, but completely fucking mind-blowing then.

Imagine being able to play that cack-handed, bedroom dross in front of hundreds of adoring fans.
He could have stood there caressing his guitar strings with a copy of Playboy whilst tugging his old feller and the audience would have gone along with it, screaming all the way...

I'd have to go back and check for accuracy, but I have a friend who once claimed that that very CC Deville solo was nearly a direct lift of a Rick Neilson solo. Might have been 'California Man'. Can anyone confirm this?
