Band name and getting sued

I play in a band called Dianogah. We've been using the name for something like 10 years and just recently have been getting e-mails to see if we are playing various shows in Minneapolis. Apparently another band is using the name now too. So, yes it can cause confusion.

One good side effect is that it inspired us to book a show in Minneapolis next week. Now the other Dianogah can get e-mails asking it *they're* really playing.

Haw haw haw it's like those flyer bands, mostly '80s hardcore bands that would fuck around and put up flyers with stupid names on them, then after a while people would be showing up at places like, "when's Rubber Monkey Butt playing?" until the guys eventually said fuck it, let's start a band, and they already had a following by then! The Chicago band Green did this too. They put out an EP called "REM".

Lois Maffeo used to have a band with Pat Maley called "Courtney Love". I saw MOTO open for them once a long long time ago.

A great one was a band made up of Orpheus (x-Plush guy) along with Kris Bataille (first Urge Overkill drummer) and Jim Newberry (Reader photog)... their band was called America UK.

Wow Mark, you have a good memory--America UK wasn't around too long and didn't gig too much. Minor correction: I don't think KB was the first UO drummer, though certainly one of the first (he played on Jesus Urge, but there was an EP out before that, and I don't think KB played on it).

Dude, you should invite them to play that Minneapolis show with you. That'll fuck people up!

We're hoping to tour out West this spring, and i really want to play a show with the San Diego If I Had A Hi Fi.

I remember that band, I don't recall if they change their name or split up.

they are still playing, they are called Bauer now. Good band.

Some friends of mine here in town used to be in a band in Milwaukee called Bauer.

Face it, everything is taken. That's why there are sentence-length band names now.

Also, there's a (not so great) band in the Twin Cities called The Hopefuls, after they were orginally The Olympic Hopefuls, but the Olympics committee made them stop using that part of their name. That, to me, is just fucked.

Yeah. In the future, bands will called themselves XZ354-A or
The Beatles 27.

Seasick Steve played on Jools' Holland show on Hogmany. I thought he introduced him as C-16. I quite like C-16 as a band name.

Jim?! Is that you?

Yeah... the internet says Patrick Byrne was UO's first... Kris the second. I sit corrected.

Sure I remember America UK. I even own a Gay Matrix 7"... it's here somewhere....

Yes, I am me! Hey, have you thought about writing a book called "Lounge Ax Memoirs"? I sure miss that place. I just fixed a typo on the Coctails Wikipedia page; someone wrote that John worked at Columbia Collage.
