I don't know shit about Providence, but man, this is SO true re: Milwaukee.

I don't think there's anything special about Providence, other than RISD maybe, that made Fort Thunder and Lightning Bolt, Black Dice, etc. happen. It was the right collection of creative people being together at the right time.
It could potentially happen in lots of other places.

The only "audacity" the city of Providence showed was when they destroyed Fort Thunder in favor of a parking structure.

I find suspect the motivation of a PD who has time to book and promote a show for a band that sells about sixteen records. If I was the owner of that station, that PD would be looking for work.

Must be a non-reporting station. Even still, I find the involvement of the station suspect, and perhaps even selfishly motivated. 125 seats? Why TF didn't you secure every last seat? Open door for 125 seats? Holy f man. That's mind-bottling. I think Coceng could draw a buck 25.

Anyway. It's almost impossible for LB to have a small show now. I suspect the only way would be to announce shows an hour or two in advance.

Escorting people to the bathroom?

I didn't go to the show, but the post by the PD has fart-smell all over it.

And "top radio station idiot" doesn't include the phylum Collegeradius Blowhardious.

It could, yes.

There's definitely a lot of "Bostonization" going on here, which coincides with larger problem of gentrification happening in nearly every American city, but the arts comminity here has stepped up to the challenge with various galleries and performance/living spaces. (Not a lot of cities actually have cool events going on Downtown, you know.) RISD is definitely a factor but there's also just a decent pool of artists and art-minded people living in New England -- and they're not going anywhere.

I don't want to spend the rest of my life in this town but one could do much, much worse.

Did anyone like KK rampage?(the opening band) It's also posted on youtube.

I was one of those suckers stuck in the rain who got shoed away at the end of the waiting line.
