I agree that Tom Werman tamed them down on record too much (especially after the chaotic first album), but with the re-mastering, some of the tracks really come through. Werman should be shot for muting Brad Carlson that much, but it is better than I remembered.
According to an interview with Petersson I read, a lot of the shit sound quality was due to an incompetant engineer. You would think with Werman trying to get a hit out of them they'd bring in somebody that knew their shit.
That said, I fucking love the big piano chords on "Southern Girls". Really adds a lot of weight to the song.

Brett Eugene Ralph wrote:ELO: A New World Record
ELO: Out of the Blue
Queen: A Day at the Races
Three of my all-time faves. Nice score on the U.S. Bonds "School Is Out". That song is a blast.
Been too broke to get my normal supply of 2nd-hand goods, but I've picked up a few things; a Barracudas LP, Paul Revere & The Raiders "Something's Happening", a Suzi Quattro LP from '75, a couple of B.W. Stevenson 45s off ebay I haven't listened to yet.
The best(?) so far is a copy of
Bing Bang And The Entertainers on Cuca. Possibly the most Sconnie LP of all time. Recorded live at a supper club in Sun Prarie WI, it consists of The Entertainers snoozing their way through loungey versions of many standards such as "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Sloop John B". Bing Bang is a Norwegian immigrant.....and the lead vocalist. Thick Norwegian accent singing with questionable grammar throughout, and bantering with an audience that's probably in a post-fish fry coma. If I get ambitious I'll rip it and put it on the sendspace thread.

The new Shellac one.
Captain Beefheart: Safe as Milk
Oddly, having been waiting for the Shellac one for so long i'm not that excited anymore. This will probably change. I watched the Beefheart documentary last night and am very excited about that one.

The first track is called "The AMM Of Punk Rock."
How is that?
I grabbed up on the new Shellac, Neurosis and Andrew Pekler records.
All fantastic, but I got rough mixes of my band's demo the other day so I haven't really paid too much attention to them yet.
