Yep, the guitarist and bassist in my band know to keep out of "The Danger Zone" (anywhere near my drum kit when I'm playing).
I almost impaled a guy in the crowd with a drumstick once with the last hit of the last song. My stick snapped and I could see it hurtling towards him in cinematic fashion. Luckily, he saw it too.

A former bandmate had a thing for throwing his broken sticks FORWARD while playing. He hit my back several times and I insisted he break the habit after one missed my ear by a 1/2". It sounded like a fucking hellicopter flying by. WHOOSH!

It's the lighting. They're just drums!
Hot, sexee drums, but still just drums.
They're not old at all, so they're pretty clean looking.

Sure, a guitar looks pretty nice. But it's never going to match that.
