Do you plan on having a family?

Couples who would otherwise be sterile and seek fertility treatments or artificial insemination piss me off, especially since I've found so many of them to also believe that abortion is wrong because it goes against "God's will." Yeah, and the doctor manufacturing your offspring in a laboratory is totally what God had in mind when He made your uterus barren and your husband's sperm retarded. Go adopt some of the unwanted babies you didn't want aborted, you selfish hypocritical assholes.

You must live in a pretty religious society I guess, Mandroid. The people I know who have had fertility problems aren't religious and don't see it is devine right to procreate. I don't know what they feel about abortion. They just have the same biological / psychological urges as most people (not everyone, of course) to raise a family.

Then why don't they adopt one of the countless children in the world who need a home?
They are fucking selfish ignorant assholes, that's why. exactly the type who shouldn't be having kids.
I'd like to hear one of those couples explain to me why they have opted to undergo those fertility procedures instead of adopting. I'd really like to hear how they convinced themselves it's the right thing to do and not a horrible evil slap in the face to every orphan child out there.

The more popular sentiment is not having kids is selfish.

I don't get it either. Raising a kid, and being a good parent is anything but selfish.

I'd like to have a child when I'm older, provided I can afford to feed someone beside myself.

On top of that, sometimes fertility treatments backfire, resulting in multiple births of six or seven little crotch trophies. Unfortunately, some of them die after a few days or weeks of being poked and prodded with tubes and needles in a hospital. Nice life to give someone. Of course, as we all know, they all go straight to Heaven.

There. You are choosing to work there. Believe it or not, there ARE jobs you can do where people don't tell you you are "evil and un-American" for not having babies. If that happens to be a regular occurrence where you and your wife work.

I'm family oriented. I don't have babies but man I love family and I love watching families love each other. you'll be hard pressed to find people that aren't family oriented at some basic level, even if they don't like being around each other.

I'm sure. Seriously. I don't think you are exaggerating re: people like this existing.

While there are nuggets of truth to some of the points you raise, your hyperbole and use of trite unfunny websites to score points undermines your arguments.

I know you kid but by all rights I should have gotten some chick pregnant at some point, I have not been especially careful over the years and as far as I know it's never happened.
My wife and I have never used any sort of birth control over the last 6 or so years and she's never gotten pregnant.
I'm thinking I do indeed have a sack of duds, thank god.

It's funny you say that, I could have said almost the exact same thing for myself. I was about 34 when my wife got pregnant and it was the first time in my life there had been any sort of pregnancy related issue, ever. No missed period scares with past girls, none of it. So don't go taking it for granted now, your luck could change!

You guys know you have to ejaculate in her vagina right? It's not like the movies.

what, you sayin' I don't fuck pussy? dude i totally fuck lots of pussies. since i'm 12 i been getting in them. that one first time with Jimmy's little sister don't count, i was not ready and she scared me. since then, i almost always put it in the pussy and pee all inside it.

I do live in a very religious society, though I suppose not so much in California as in the Midwest, where I grew up. I'd guess that 1 in every 5 vehicles in my area of Wisconsin had anti-choice bumper stickers, a Jesus fish, "W" bumper stickers, or all three. I've run across many, many people in my life who honestly believe that man's sole purpose is to populate the earth with more Christians, and that "God will provide."

I'm not saying that people with fertility problems shouldn't start families. I just believe that more serious forms of fertility treatment (not, "take this formulation of vitamins, monitor body temperatures..." common sense stuff) are making something occur that nature didn't intend for. Sometimes, there is a biological reason why a set of two individuals shouldn't take a skinny dip in the gene pool. If that is the case, perhaps the individuals should adopt rather than desperately attempting to pass on their faulty genetic material.

Well maybe because the need is so great that they'd like to try all the biological steps first. It's a pretty successful procedure you know.

Wait a minute. By your logic all couples with fertility problems should be morally obliged to adopt an orphan?

Holy fuck.

C'mon Mandroid, some people are born with Cleft palates, would you deny them the opportunity to get it fixed just because it is as nature intended?

I believe the world's first test tube baby has started a family of her own without any artificial medical intervention, so it's not the case the fertility problems are passed down.
