Pretty sure my bike is on its last legs. It was a hybrid road mountain bike from what i can tell and had something absurd like 22 speeds (which probably explains why it kept falling apart).

I'm super novice when it comes to "bike talk" can y'all recommend a nice bike?

I'm 6'3" and "chubby." I'm also not into fixed gears.

any help would be rad.

Depends on what you're going to use it for, how much you'll ride, and how much you want to spend.

If you ever ride on wet streets, look for something with front and rear eyelets for attaching fenders -- they make a huge difference in keeping you clean and dry.

If you want another hybrid, Jamis is making inexpensive ones that seem really sensible for city riding. They may not be sexy, but they definitely seem functional.

Definitely consult a neighborhood bike shop for a fitting. You'll take a hit on the city tax, but it's probably worth it if you're unconcerned with figuring out the bike nerd details.

It would mainly be used for city riding during the warmer/non-tundra periods.

Ideally, I'd ride every day, but i have to find a way to manage that since I'll need the car for work.

I don't really care about keeping clean when riding on wet days. As long as I don't turf out...

Edit: I like the look of that cannondale, and the jamis site doesn't look so bad.

Peugeot frames LOOK nice though, probably why they are being made into coversions.

It's funny though, I'm building a fixed conversion for a friend and it's amazing how much lighter it is without any gear on it. The frame itself is some heavy-ass 80's racer too.

One of the nicest fixed conversion I've seen online is this...

Nice colours, no horrible Deep V's in gross colours and clean lines. Oh, and the dude used to be Camera Obscura (the US one) and the Dropscience.

About a year and a half ago, the guy upstairs from me left in the middle of the night and never came back. He left this bike in our backyard, and I decided after two weeks that it was mine to keep. I know nothing about bikes, so if anyone can tell me anything that'd be great. A few of the parts say Shimano on it. I like the bike. I'm thinking I might try getting into riding it this summer.

Verbs and Nouns wrote:So at the train station in Adelaide city, you can store bikes there. They're in a litle area, it's not overly secure, and they just have racks where you can chain your bike. For the last six months, there's been this amazing womens bike. It's been chained in the same spot, an when we catch the train (everyday) it's there. I swear, i'm going to buy some bolt cutters and take it one day.

Bike karma is a cruel bitch. Let some other fool take the heat.

Yeah, I guess.

I'd get it, come home and all my bass gear would've been stolen or something.
