wait until we do the "what's your progression of soldering iron up to now?"

Here's my progression:
Some fender like small practice amp, I played bass through it.
Echolette Stentor through a Fender V.T. Bassman 2X15".
GK 400RB III through a Fender V.T. Bassman 2X15".

I play guitar through the same setup, soon I will buy a guitar amp.

Here's my contribution, as you can see I have made some pretty dubious choices but I'm pleased with what I have now:
Solex practise amp 8" speaker
Dean Guitars DGX-15 Combo 8" speaker
Peavey Bandit 112 Solo Series ComboWEM Solid State 2x12 combo
Marshall VS100H horrible valvestate 100w head
Orange Graphic 120 - stupidly loud, I wish I'd kept hold of this. It had some grounding/hum issues but didn't know anybody trustworthy capable of fixing it at the time.
Musicman RP65* - my dad picked this up at a carboot for £35 with 2 other amps! I have now built a new case for it for use as a head (stock speaker sounds awful). Very Pink Flag era Wire sounding distortion, especially when I used to use it with a 4x12 loaded with 25w greenbacks.
Laney Pro-Tube Lead 50w*
Acoustic Control G100T 100w Valve Head*
Trace Elliot Commando 150 - awful bass amp. I used to play guitar in a band with no bass and instead used an electro-harmonix octave. Used to use this as a slave with the Acoustic Control for more low end.
Peavey Valve King 100W Valve Head* (used this for bass for a year with a 2x12 guitar cab and was very pleased with it. Also good for guitar. Changing the valves has made a huge difference to the sound.
Ampeg B1RE (For bass) disappointing bottom of the range ampeg. Bought to replace the trace elliot and sold within a few months.
Gallien Krueger 1001RB (For bass)*

*still owned

My first amp was a silverface bassman 50 with matching 2x15. I wish I still had that thing, it wasn't really loud enough and the cab wasn't great but I bet I'd find a use for it now. Being young and dumb and only knowing that this thing I had wasn't very loud I replaced it with a Peavey 2x15 and a Crate head. I carry a profound sense of shame with me to this day.

In use these days:
SWR SM400, SWR SM500, SWR Henry the 8x8, SWR Big Ben, Ampeg SVT410HE, Sunn SA11, Carvin PB300.

Probably not a popular opinion around here but that SWR 8x8 stomps all over the ampeg 4x10. Louder, more aggressive, just better. It's one of the old ones, some kinda custom Celestion driver I can't find anywhere. Cool speaker box.

Traynor 40w
Fender Twin Reverb (early 70s?)
Then ANOTHER Fender Twin Reverb (sucker)
Then a Vox 30W combo
Then some Marshall thing
Now I'm old and hate big things. Orange Tiny Terror is my main amp, and I use whatever cabinet is floating around (Orange 2x12 live, little Epiphone for practice)

There was a period where I played bass, too, and had a Traynor head & cabinet. But just 'cause I was in Canada and they were cheap. Not for geek points. I remember being made fun of for Traynor equipment, ie, "You're still in TRAY-ning?"
