I don't disagree with most of what Rick or Skronk is saying, but I'm not saying technical proficency is an end in itself. I'm saying without it you're limited in your expressive capacities as a musician and when there are pieces of music that have more expressive capacity than the entire Touch and Go catalog, I don't much see the point in trashing innocuous, commercially successful pop bands.
