See if you can find the DVD "The Blind Eye Sees All," it's from a 1985 show. Production/sound are solid. Paul's guitar playing is amazing. They were one of those bands whose albums never really did them justice.

I found a bit from this on YouTube, and I must admit that it was better than I had expected. By the time I saw them, Haynes was a junkie fuck-up. He and the rest of the band couldn't have possibly been more indifferent during their performance. It was really awful.

Electric Larryland was the Buttholes' second album for Capitol. They were long gone from Touch & Go by that time. I also don't recall T&G product being at all hard to find in stores at the time -- I worked for a few years in the CD and Tape department of a lame-ass music store that mainly specialized in band instruments and sheet music, but all the one-stops we ordered from had the T&G titles in their catalog, and I made sure we had the Jesus Lizard and Bad Livers titles (among others) in stock. Then again, I don't pretend to understand the workings of the minds of either Paul Leary or Gibby Haynes.

I just finished Blind Eye Sees All and it's good not great. There's some funny shit. I don't really know what to think of this band after all of these years. They were one of my first intros to American underground. I think they scammed a lot of people by simply bringing The Factory to the punk scene and built a following believing they were doing something original but despite that they did write some great songs and put them onto great albums that I'll always dig.

My friend just saw their show last night. I hear it was out of control and ended with Gibby breaking the sound guy's nose and getting arrested, leaving genesis p-orridge to calm everyone down.

I have to admit I am pretty angry I missed this.

Was anyone there?
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

in london they opened with the last song from locust abortion technician. I thought oh fuck this is gonna be sweet. they played graveyard too but after a while I realised I only like a handful of the butthole's material.

it was one of the most freakin absurd and ridiculous shows I have been to. those school or rock kids?? what was with that? if I had kids I would be fucked if I'd let them anywhere near those guys let alone tour with them. made it a little more entertaining though. it was sweet when at the end everyone (like 15ish) of them got on stage and started smashing shit, making noise, and wrestling each other. so fucking strange though.
