I don't know if this is an example of how competitive the AL East is or how shitty it is, but New York, Toronto and Baltimore are tied for 3rd place at .500.
All three teams are 7 games behind Boston.
Tampa Bay is behind 1 game.

If that's so, then don't look at the NL West.

I don't know. He was at 438 through 2000. So, perhaps 800 was a bit lofty, yes.

Regardless, his numbers should certainly be considerably more lofty.
