Not me, though. My parents were squares.

I think it could be said my son was born to parents who dressed funny, at the time. We didn't really listen to lame music though, although some people may disagree.

I gotta say, I think he's turned out well.

I wouldn't be making assumptions on people you've never met based on your perceptions of their lives or lifestyle. No matter how silly you think their culture or lifestyle is.

Plenty of people born to "normal" parents turn out to be quite whacked.

Their grief is their grief, and they have every right to express it the way they want or need to.

This thread could become a debate for or against eugenics. Were they "fit" parents, would the baby be a"useful" human being, should it live or die because of who its parents were. I've been saving my own opinions because fuck, I don't want those to dolts to stumble upon this thread and hear my harsh words about their sadness (if indeed they are honestly sad about this, I mean maybe their parents just wouldn't let them get an abortion?) and become more depressed and drown their sorrows in FayGo and cough syrup.

Anyway, fuck a discussion about eugenics; such debates are fruitless and have been done ad nauseum. The kid's dead, we'll never know if he will like the Insane Clown Posse, and the parents' 15 seconds of "fame" is ticking off. Somebody lock this thread.

When GG Allin died and was buried with a bottle of whiskey and wearing a Walkman in a casket covered with punk rock stickers and graffiti, that was pretty much to be expected. He was an adult who chose to live that life and probably desired and expected a funeral like that.

But to deface the casket of your own dead infant daughter with images of clowns running around with bloody hatchets and bottles of cheap soda pop? I guess having an iota of class would be far too much to expect from a goddamn juggalo.

It's disgraceful, sick and sad.

This makes no sense. Who do you think the funeral is for? The dead person or the people left greiving? Yeah, its guady, fucked up and totally laughable- but any moreso than the catholic church? or gving a catholic service to an atheist because their parents baptised them? (or any other religion for that matter)

I'm sure the parents weren't the only ones in attendance. I bet the rest of the family was happy to see the decals depicting clowns brandishing bloody hatchets plastered all over the coffin.

I empathize with these parents for their suffering, but if having a "juggalo funeral" for their infant daughter and then posting pictures of it for their juggalo friends on MySpace somehow eases their pain, then I certainly pity them as well. Not everybody can be expected to have the utmost taste and decorum, but come on.

I expect to be given a traditional agnostic funeral after I die. It must be held in a church that's been converted from an I-HOP, a Pizza Hut or a Blockbuster Video, and there should be a giant sculpture of a question mark hanging above the altar.

All I’m saying is- at my friends funeral I had to go through all the catholic prayers and shite. I doubt any of his friends were catholic, nor his family apart from his mum. But I wasn’t appalled by the concept of a higher being, nor the injustice of one. I was at his funeral, I paid my respect in the manner of her choosing. I don’t think this is any less appalling. Certainly no more so than some of the sick cutesy children’s graves I’ve seen. As for clowns and bloody hatchets- I guess a man nailed to a cross is better?

As far as posting the pictures go- yeah, that is pretty fucked.
Credo!

deaths aren't funny (maybe there's some exception somewhere, but this isn't it) and the death of a baby isn't funny.

the peculiar and seemingly tasteless decor of the funeral is funny to me though.

i don't think the names (or juggalo handles -- jughandles?) of the parents or child should be in this thread (didn't check to see if they were) because i wouldn't want it to pop up in google under their names -- "what's the internet say about me? oh, some assholes decide to poke fun at my kid's funeral". it shouldn't be personal -- it's more acceptable to render them anonymous before laughing at their rituals.

i think the comments about the kid avoiding a horrible life are elitist and crappy. if these were black parents who had an equally tasteless funeral, decorating the coffin with airbrushed text "may u bling and floss with tupac and biggie in heaven, with the biggest rims and the iciest grills", no one would say "oh the kid is preventing a horrible life" because they'd think it racist.

the montessori comment seems snobby.

fuck eugenics.

i will admit though, that i laughed hard at two posts in this thread:

Well that's my main point. I don't really care how these people dress or what kind of music they listen to or whatever. To each his own, you know?

The thing I really find distasteful is turning their own child's funeral into a conspicuous display for their sick little subculture, and trying to use it as currency to barter for free shit on the radio. I understand that grief sometimes makes people act strangely, but something about this just doesn't seem right.

Apparently it's a song called "Withered" by Dark Lotus.

Cute.

Yeah, I went to a Montessori school and got my teeth kicked in on the first day!

True, "send us free stuff" is gross.
