Well done, sir.

I had a double-take when watching Casino again after seeing Le Mépris. The usage is a striking change of context isn't it? I wish that I could mourn and regret with such grace.

Gorgeous turn of pace. That song set against the afternoon desert where no one is invincible. Scorsese is a master of emotional manipulations.

In Le Mépris the song's subtlety was enforced, but in Casino it was the signal for collapse. Versatility at its finest, in the right hands.

+1

Season of the Witch. The 1971 George Romero movie "Hungry Wives" was released on video as "Season of the Witch" because there's a sequence with the Donovan song that 's a great example of music placement. Hard to find movie, under appreciated, but great.

Ike wrote:"Hurdy-Gurdy Man" in Zodiac creeped me out. CREEPY song anyway.

I found the Three Dog Night song 'Easy to Be Hard' to be equally creepy.
Ike wrote:Say what you want, but that faux-Irish band in The Departed, that one song? When it's all crazy? That was pretty good. That song with Boston in it. That's pretty damn good.

The song is 'I'm Shipping Up to Boston' by The Dropkick Murphys. I also hate this band but its usage in those scenes was highly appropriate.
