I'm glad someone here has a true-life testimonial to back those up! I don't give two fucks about my cat scratching anything i own so i haven't bothered with them yet.

yall must have good as hell cats - mine hated softpaws (granted i tried them twice like 10 years ago so maybe they've changed them since). my keno would chew them off by the third day and would be walking around with only like 1 softpaw on each foot. audrey would chew off like 3 of them. eventually i gave up, clipping their nails regulates scratchage well enough for me (although i rarely even do that and have resigned to the fact that my house is one bit scratching post).

my pleasure, faiz. no allergic friends, but the shedding (oh the shedding!)... hallelujah. it is a miracle brush, expensive as balls, but worth every penny. you can get it at any petsmart or petco.

hmm. may not be the best choice for me, then, but I might just pick one up to replace the kitty slicker. hell, I shed more than my cats. I guess I'm more concerned with the air quality in the home so my friends don't feel crummy breathing in dander.

probably every other day at this point, give or take. my allergic friends haven't had a real problem, honestly. hell, my friend of 13 years gets by pretty well when visiting, but both cats are short hair. no flare ups or hives or nothing, but the sneezing is present, to be sure.

I have great airflow* through the apartment, so that seems to help, but I feel it could be better.

Well, I honestly don't think you can do anything more. Any vinyl in the apartment? Blinds? Tends to attract dander and shit.

Sure it's sad to watch a cat eat, but this is how it's going to be from now on.

My two cents on declawing: If one can't handle the claws, one shouldn't own a cat.

It's a cruel thing to do to any cat, including indoor cats.

If you really want an indoor cat, check shelters. They often have cats that have been declawed and abandoned.

I'm lucky that cutting my cat's nails is relatively easy. Catching him is hard, but once I've got him, his attitude seems to be "ahh, fuck it, let's just get this over with."
