definitely jimmy chamberlin and josh freese...they're wicked. joey waronker (spelling?) from beck's band is cool too. and whoever drummed on the first mars volta record is insane. i always liked geezer butler from black sabbath too. oh, and no mention of steve gadd yet? for shame...his stuff with paul simon is super cool, in particular the "one trick pony" album. oh and phil collins, if only for "in the air tonight."

this might seem to be an unusal choice, but I pick Weezer's Pinkerton. I love Pat wilson's playing. I think he what he plays sounds so perfect with the band's songs.

Geezer Butler is the bassist. Bill Ward is the drummer.
Anything by Don Cab, The Fucking Champs or Stepdads has amazing drumming on it.

OK I might get ridiculed, but here goes:
Stewart Copeland - Police (Synchronicity and earlier)
Mitch Mitchell - Hendrix
Mitch Mitchell on some of the live recordings I have does some insane stuff and never falters. I have always enjoyed listening to drummers who come from one genre of training/learning and play a different genre of music.

The guy from Groop Dogdrill is/was a great full-on, dumb-ass rock and roll player.
I never know if one is allowed to mention Groop Dogdrill in polite company.

I once saw a band support mega city four and the senseless things called Cod.
They only stood out by the fact that there lead singer was there drummer who had his kit at the front. All the guitarists stood at the back.
He had an amazing voice whilst drumming his arse off.
if you can drum your arse off
