I'll make you a deal: I will sendspace you a King Crimson album, and you sendspace me a Pink Fairies album. How does that sound?

"Lark's Tongue In Aspic" is the best Crimson album for sure.

If by "sendspace," you mean burn a CDR and put it in the mail, then yes, it sounds great.

I could do that too.

Not a fan of the sendspacing?

Anyhow, I'm thinking that, for you, I'd probably burn either Red or Larks' Tongues In Aspic.

I'll stick with the recent lineups of the band...

Belew the guitarist: Not crap.
Belew the singer/lyricist: Crap.
Bruford: Not crap. Ever.
Fripp the rock guitarist: Not crap.
Fripp the soundscapist: Crap.
Gunn: Crap.
Levin: Not crap.
Mastelotto: Crap compared to Bruford.

The six-man lineup of Belew, Bruford, Fripp, Gunn, Levin and Mastelotto was NOT CRAP.

The four-man lineup of Belew, Fripp, Gunn and Mastelotto was CRAP.

I'm curious what the new five-man lineup will sound like. I know nothing about Gavin Harrison (the new drummer).

I am a huge fan of Red. I also really dig In the Court of the Crimson King.
I think Lark's Tongue in Aspic is pretty solid.
Other than that, I'm not sure how I feel. I have a copy of Discipline and recall it sucking a lot.
I like Belew's guitarring, but he seems pretty lame, aside from that.

Is it just me, or does prog rock seem like an incredible idea when it's done correctly, but the worst idea when it is done wrong?

I would love to hear your rationale for that.

Completely undermines your entire post.

Fripp is The Grandfather of Soundscapes.

Well, I just you-tubed "Elephant Talk," and it is actually not too bad.
Maybe I was just making a judgement in haste because I didn't expect their sound to be so dramatically different when I picked that record up.
I'm listening to "Frame by Frame" right now. I am pretty sure that it too does not suck.

Agreed. He is the grandfather of a genre that in my opinion is crap.
