Women of the world take over
Cause if you don’t the world will come to an end
And it won’t take long
That's a cover - I think it's originally by Ivor Cutler.

Two of my favourite....
Falling Aeroplanes by Darren Hanlon
The boy threw his guitar down and started beating his brow
No matter how hard he tried he couldn’t justify
All the wasted time spent inventing words and rhyme
As the stars and the planets and the clock did laps
You see making up songs is for losers
I should build something she uses
Like a box or a bed or cupboards or shelves
‘Cause songs are made of air
They can’t be any use to her
Better off trying to catch falling aeroplanes
Yeah
Then girl said “Boy don’t be so stupid
Boy don’t be so daft
You’re not even right by half
And although you say your songs are fundamentally air
There’s also thousands of vibrations that stimulate the ear
In such a way that whenever I hear them
They always make me smile
They’re just as tactile
As a box or a bed or cupboards or shelves
So boy now stop your moping
Your cursing and no-hoping
And get back in the saddleâ€

Things you used to go alone

Ladders, walls, red carpets, lakes

How nice to see this here.
This is from
when you know by Mecca Normal. I often find them not so listenable, but this is one of my favorite songs, & especially love songs, ever.

I really wouldn't know where to start. Couldn't begin.
But, of course, The Fall. Mostly everything.
M. E. Smith makes me want to peel off my skin with my finger nails, assassinate the President (and/or my landlord), and be -- or fall -- in love. Always. Always. For the first time again.

This is very good work.
EDIT: I see Spoot has already acknowledged this fine work. Oh well.

my favoritest lyrics ever come from a song i'm sure everyone here's familiar with...but i'll cut and paste 'em up here for you to re-read...
"Heroin" by Lou rock'n'roll Reed
I don’t know just where I’m going
But I’m gonna try for the kingdom, if I can
’cause it makes me feel like I’m a man
When I put a spike into my vein
And I’ll tell ya, things aren’t quite the same
When I’m rushing on my run
And I feel just like jesus’ son
And I guess that I just don’t know
And I guess that I just don’t know
I have made the big decision
I’m gonna try to nullify my life
’cause when the blood begins to flow
When it shoots up the dropper’s neck
When I’m closing in on death
And you can’t help me not, you guys
And all you sweet girls with all your sweet talk
You can all go take a walk
And I guess that I just don’t know
And I guess that I just don’t know
I wish that I was born a thousand years ago
I wish that I’d sail the darkened seas
On a great big clipper ship
Going from this land here to that
In a sailor’s suit and cap
Away from the big city
Where a man can not be free
Of all of the evils of this town
And of himself, and those around
Oh, and I guess that I just don’t know
Oh, and I guess that I just don’t know
Heroin, be the death of me
Heroin, it’s my wife and it’s my life
Because a mainer to my vein
Leads to a center in my head
And then I’m better off and dead
Because when the smack begins to flow
I really don’t care anymore
About all the jim-jim’s in this town
And all the politicians makin’ crazy sounds
And everybody puttin’ everybody else down
And all the dead bodies piled up in mounds
’cause when the smack begins to flow
Then I really don’t care anymore
Ah, when the heroin is in my blood
And that blood is in my head
Then thank God that I’m as good as dead
Then thank your God that I’m not aware
And thank God that I just don’t care
And I guess I just don’t know
And I guess I just don’t know
sorry to say i'm not a junkie myself, though neither was ol' Lou (though i'm a much bigger pussy than he ever was in that i don't even smoke or drink or weild a switch...) but i think this song perfectly conveys a certain level of anger/etc that i often identify with completely...i don't know if that makes any sense or if it sounds stupid when i say it, but that's why...i ain't so good with words though...

"I'm sorry I'm not a junkie" sounds stupid when anyone says it, it isn't just you.
