Something weird and SS? I have plenty of cabs to put something through (and also have the option to turn the 8x10 into a stereo cab very easily)Thanksviewtopic.php?f=5&t=39407http://www.electricalaudio.com/phpBB/vi ... f=4&t=3578viewtopic.php?f=5&t=60371

Bubber wrote:Hey. Is there a thread I should be looking at for my amp hunt? Kerble me. "uncool amp" "cheap amp" blah blah blah.Anyway. I've never much looked into guitar amps. Right now I'm trying to downsize/right-size on amps. I've got a Traynor TS-60B which I'm finding just about perfect for the guitar, light and easy to move, plenty loud but not preposterous, nice clean sound, not mellow and not thin.... At the moment I need a *second* amp of comparable size and temperament, and I'm aiming for the $0-200 range. My rule of thumb is, if I don't like it better than the Crate G-60 I've got here, which, joke away, but frankly I've found pretty responsive and decent-sounding clean in comparison to some stuff, well then it'd be insanity to buy it. So I didn't care for the Vox 55w bass amp (SS 1x10) I touched last night, the GK 75w head I've got isn't quite to my own taste and I'm tired of having the 4x12 cabinet for that anyway, blah blah blah.I guess I'm assuming there must be plenty of SS combos from the last 40 years with uncool badges on them that might fit the bill. Let's max out the size at 2x12, smaller is totally fine. Let me know what will beat my Crate. (Photos of burned cars, or dog shit on concrete, while amusing, probably won't help.) Thanks much in advance. This has been pretty well covered here.

Nice! That's why I suggested it instead of kerbling that thread: there are a gillion options there and those Yamahas can be had at any pawn shop for like $100. I was reminded of them after seeing Viet Cong recently. Great cleans and reverb.

Thanks! After a bunch of digging around for the variations up for sale on this-and-that, I just took home a G100 head for $50. Scratchy pots, but sounds pretty great to my ears. Thanks again.

You're looking for a sub $250 semi-hollow body guitar with a set neck that presumably plays decent and stays in tune? I don't know of anything readily available that fits that bill.

I'd need to see a link to offer any real advice but in my experience, you will most likely be disappointed with some if not most aspects of a used sub-$200 Asian hollow body guitar.

Being a drummer primarily, it doesn't need to play like a dream. My doubts are that it will ever get played in front of an audience. I already have a decent solid-body guitar so a semi seems like the next logical addition of guitar. Like IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII said, since it looks like a Ric, you can probably get most of your money out of it if you hate it and it will almost certainly need a set up when you get it. Those are pretty crappy guitars though and I assume that they won't hold up well over time but who knows. I've gotten spam from the company that makes those offering them to me with whatever name I want on the headstock if I order more than 6 of them. Honestly, if possible, save up a little more and get something better. I think you'll probably be disappointed with that one.

As long as you don't mind a big ass case, FM Bob Weston has an insane flight case for his Rickenbacker. I believe it is the maximum size that fits on a plane as checked luggage. It's huge and looks like you could drop it from 50 ft. and the bass would be fine. I don't remember who made it but it's worth asking him.
