Price would be a solid deal if they'd ship direct, but having to redirect to a pal in the EU and risking double import taxes and double shipping costs pretty much defeats the purpose.
There wouldnt be double import taxes, just the one, because you;re not importing it anywhere twice. You would have to pay double shipping but depending on the size of them its not that much.

Post-Brexit, EU Customs might be pricks though and charge for the UK->EU bit. Is there specific paperwork to get around that?

Oh sorry. Missed the EU part. Still there are plenty of forum members in the UK that would gladly help you out with shipping from the UK.

FWIW I had something recently shipped from the EU to here and since it was low value and marked as "personal goods being returned" they didn't stop it. Of course there was nothing expensive or new in the box. Not at all.

I'm flat out for the next week or so, but if no-one jumps in before then PM me and I'll try.

Thank you guys so much for the offers to help! I wound up having them shipped to a friend in Germany who can re-send them to Canada through his work. The VAT savings are greater than the shipping cost to Germany, so hopefully it'll work out OK and I won't get too badly dinged on customs. The compressors are about $100 under normal market value, so hopefully in the end there'll still be a bit of savings?

update: I was brutalized by taxes/fees going into .de so these cheap comps are no longer cheap. ;_;
