I avoided this unfortunately named concern for years because of the unfortunate name. After a while, I decided I wasn't proving anything to anyone and now drink the best coffee in the world almost every day.

Star is pretty CRAP.

Intelligentsia is very good and I love it when restaurants have it as the house coffee. so nice. I will also vouch for he Quality of the Coffee and Tea Exchange on Broadway. They have a roaster in town (on diversey) and the boss there is a great guy--really good to his employees. I think I'm more partial to CTX's coffee over intelligentsia, but it may be the taste-nostalgia of having worked there for three years during college. their Kenyan is to die for.

I do that, too. Starbuck's drip coffee tastes like burnt socks.

I prefer the Colombian coffee that my mum does. That said, I've never tasted a starbucks coffee.

Crap that usually ruins my day whenever I stupidly give it another chance.

I always liked Barnie's coffee more than Starbucks, which is quite bitter to my taste.

Are there Barnie's anywhere else than Florida? I know they started there but supposedly branched out over the east coast. I have yet to see one in NJ.

In the 2007, there still isn't even one Starbucks to be found in my kingdom of the Netherlands. All while Bucky did manage to plant a four square kilometer distribution centre in an Amsterdam harbor. It seems very strange to me, and I have endlessly, yet fruitlessly, debated the possible socio-cultural variables underlying this fact. I have concluded that the reasons for it must be more prosaic, and may just possibly lie in the slightly homo-erotic connotations of the word "Starbucks" in the Dutch language.

But there it is. I never had a Starbucks coffee in my entire life.

Tomorrow (March 15th) you can get a free 12 oz drip coffee from 10am - noon at any Bucky shop. It's called, uh, "coffee break."

I have been to four Starbuckses that are located across the street from another Starbucks (two sets of two). There's something Crap about that. Also, if I vote Crap I could be the first in this thread (unless I missed it) to make a "Crappucino" joke. Despite both of these strong incentives, I don't really feel strongly enough about it...
