Turn your guitar volume down see if it's just slamming the input hard - if not, try a boss tuner in front of it see if it's being loaded weirdlyTeacher's Pet wrote: Fri Feb 18, 2022 9:54 am I was messing around with a friend's new EHX Synth 9 pedal last night.
Some of the synth presets had a real low-octave fuzz distortion sound. More distortion than either of us expected.
Is this normal? Any tips for cleaner synth tones from a guitar pedal?

702The neck pickup may also be the one to use, if it’s been having this problem on the bridge.TylerDeadPine wrote: Wed Feb 23, 2022 11:27 amTurn your guitar volume down see if it's just slamming the input hard - if not, try a boss tuner in front of it see if it's being loaded weirdlyTeacher's Pet wrote: Fri Feb 18, 2022 9:54 am I was messing around with a friend's new EHX Synth 9 pedal last night.

703Anyone know of a pedal that does the EHX Clone Theory thing but in a smaller footprint than the current reissue? I love how the pedal sounds, wouldn't mind having a smaller one on the board.

704Which mode(s) do you use? If you don't use the Vibrato mode you could get a modded Neo Clone that replaces the switch with a knob to get more depth options.tallchris wrote: Wed Feb 23, 2022 5:08 pm Anyone know of a pedal that does the EHX Clone Theory thing but in a smaller footprint than the current reissue? 705Just the #2 setting, and I pretty much just like how it sounds w/ the depth and rate at noon.tommy wrote: Wed Feb 23, 2022 5:43 pmWhich mode(s) do you use? 706Then you might not even need it modded. Try looking for Neo Clone vs Clone Theory videos to see if it ticks the boxes. There has to be one.tallchris wrote: Wed Feb 23, 2022 5:46 pmJust the #2 setting, and I pretty much just like how it sounds w/ the depth and rate at noon.tommy wrote: Wed Feb 23, 2022 5:43 pmWhich mode(s) do you use? Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
707Hi again
I am building a Jaguar with vintage and recent parts.
I hear a vintage 24” Mustang neck will fit a Jag body, yes? Any potential problems? As far as I can tell I just need to make sure the bridge fits a 7.25” vintage neck radius
I remember there being a bunch of discussions about Staytrem vs Mastery vs stock or whatever, but I can’t even do a search function with google anymore.
How are people searching archives?
Also if anyone has any U.S.A. or vintage Jag parts please sell them to me. I already have a few parts but more options won’t hurt.

Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
708First thing is to get a hearing test to know where you're at. Accepting hearing loss is one of the brutal tragedies of aging but this is the way of things. Hoping a technological/medical fix is a possibility by the time I get there (sadly just around the corner)uglysound wrote: Sun Feb 27, 2022 4:45 pm When you, like me, have age/music/lifestyle-related hearing, how do you avoid fatiguing frequencies/sounds that you can't hear when playing and/or recording synthesizers/gadgets that can potentially cover a huge frequency range?
edit: I understand that this is likely resolved with EQ. Is shearing off higher frequencies less of a concern with synthesized sound that will usually require effects to create "space" anyway?
There are free RTA apps on your phone to check what is being broadcast out into your acoustic environment if you want to check. They're not as accurate as you would use as a professional sound installation tech but they should be just fine to double-check your work if you're concerned.
You can also ask younger folks if they'd be willing to give a listen.
Beyond that I wouldn't stress over it too much. If you find some weird spikes w/ the rta, ask someone to give a listen and see if they wince. If you need to roll down the highs, sure do so. But if you are continuing to make music the way you always have, I wouldn't be super concerned about it.
And of course, having it professionally mastered should wipe away any concerns - and you can always ask the mastering engineer if they thought it was too harsh/bright/piercing.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
709Vintage Mustangs, Duo-Sonics, Musicamasters, and Jaguars all have swappable necks, no problem. They all fit vintage reissue USA stuff too. You get into a bit of a problem with US vs Japanese/Chinese/Korean (metric). Plus some newer versions of both aren't 24" scale. So watch out for weirdo models.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 11:53 am Hi again

I think I have an extra 1960s Mustang bridge (chrome plated brass/steel, not shit metal) if you end up going that route. I might have a few AVRI parts too. I'll check.
Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere
710If tommy's Mustang bridge doesn't work out look into the the Warmoth Modified Mustang Bridge maybe. I've had zero problems or saddle slips or anything with mine with a 7.25" radius.
