Anyone have experience with the DiMarzio Eric Johnson Custom humbucker set? I don’t think I could pick out “Cliffs of Dover” in a lineup but my understanding was that they were voiced for a brighter, single-coil-sounding tone, which is what I’m going for.

I was also thinking about the Seymour Duncan Jazz HB set and a handful of more expensive pickup sets from Creamery, Lollar, Lace et cetera for tones approaching WRHB/Travis Bean HB territory.

Hit YouTube, and look into Seymour Duncan P-Rails that are in the Seymour Duncan Triple Shot mounting rings.

No experience with the Dimarzios, but if you're wanting bright single coil sound in a humbucker-sized pickup, the Fralin Big Singles fit the bill.

I'd be willing to sell if you're interested. They sound great, I'm only selling them cause I have them in a tele right now, I want to put actual tele pickups in it, I don't have another guitar for the unbuckers, and I definitely don't need an excuse to build another one.

I’ve never been annoyed by a Fralin pickup like I’ve been annoyed by Dimarzios.

If you’re submitting for comments I would roll the dice on FM spaceecho’s and be confident in the decent Fralin resale value if they don’t work out.

I was looking at the Big Singles as a potential option, but they’re definitely above my price range (probably don’t wanna break $200 for a full set). I don’t really have any desire to fool around with any coil-tapping or series/parallel options; how do the Unbuckers do when wired normally in series?

Also, are they covered or uncovered? I want to put no-hole chrome covers on ‘em (purely for aesthetics).

Cool. They do fine wired normally, I usually have them split because I want a single coil sound more often than not, but they don't change tone too much when going to humbucker, much less than most pickups. Just get a lil thicker in the midrange.

They're uncovered, white. F-spaced bridge. $220 shipped.

a pair of EV 666's not exactly a good price for a couple dynamics, but better than what I'm seeing on ebay/reverb.

I already have a pair of the Cannon 3 pin connectors for them, that totally justifies getting the mics right?

That mic is getting pretty overpriced, but that's cause they're rare. You could probably sell them in a few years for another 25% more. In the meantime they'll be fun to mess with, maybe so fun you don't want to sell them.
