I should give credit to the Mastery trem as it did vastly improve the tuning stability. I attributed a lot of that to the bridge (I could practically feel the wrapped strings dragging through the V shaped notches on the previous TOM bridge) but the trem has worked great too.

I vote for the AVRI trem (or whatever Fender calls the US made ones these days) because it has the lock. A lot of people don't use these but I think they are great when setup correctly. It's been forever since I played a show but it saved me during a string break on more than one occasion. You break a string and the tension change on the springs throw everything else out of tune. Avoided with engaging the lock. Also, avoid the MIJ trem. It sucks because of the lighter springs and it rocks unevenly.

So far so good. Working with a "real" singer is cool, right now we are just collaborating remotely (yay technology), but the process has been productive. We figured we will write 4 songs together, once we are happy, send them over to the rest of the band. Then proceed to bang them out and refine in the room together.

In the meantime I had another person reach out interested to join the band. They play keys and have a really good voice. I never really pictured keyboard or piano in this project, but I feel like a chump turning away what seems to be a real talented musician. On the other hand, I don't know if keys fit.

We lucked out in that the first person we reached out to about drumming, while playing in another locally popular band, was totally down to play with us. Dude just slays, the stuff he comes up with when he's "just learning the song" blows my mind.

Now trying to find a singer, that's been taking longer...might have someone sorted fingers crossed.

But would making space for them to fit push you into doing something exciting and new?

I'm projecting a little because entering a decade with a guitar driven power trio I often think of the innovation a different set of instruments could force.

Could you not get the cheapest volume pedal possible and turn the pot into a basic sag control?
