Please, somebody say that Mike Watt's Wattplower Mark II bass sucks. Like, say it looks bad, or it's not econo, or something.
Thanks,

Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
752I'd say a Squier or import Mustang Bass looks better and can do that sound for a 1/3 of the cost.
But it's still kinda cool..

Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
755I’m so fuckin sick of seeing every band with guitar center fenders. Yes on the Watt stick
Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
756That bass is fugly as hell and I don’t think Reverend instruments are very comfortable.
Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
757The split pickup arrangement is almost the shape of the black flag bars, but frustratingly, not quite

Re: Gear: TALK ME OUT OF IT or JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE?
759Time for a little mini-poll.
Got around to putting a G&L MFD ASAT Classic Bridge Pickup in the new cheapo Tele. Naturally it Shits Trains but I ran into some issues with the stock neck pickup, namely that it seems to not be RW/RP with the MFD pickup, and the stock pickguard is a bastard config of Tele Neck size, but Strat mounting screws. Cavity is too deep for mounting a Tele neck pickup, and I had a spare one from another guitar project. So I decided to cut my losses and Esquire the thing (sans the typical Esquire wiring scheme).
I do have a handful of spare pickups I want to try here (Dragonfire Mini-Humbucker, a few Strat GFS Gold Foils) but part of me is somewhat enticed by the idea of keeping it in Esquire mode. I do have band practice later today so I will have a chance to test drive it today, but past that, do you think I should:
A - Let It Ride, get a blank Tele pickguard and commit to Esquiring it, or
B - Get a Tele pickguard that accommodates a different pickup and a new switch?

760I've gone down that rabbit hole before with mini hums, hot wound single coil necks and none of it was that great. You probably already have guitars that do that thing well. Fully Esquire it! (and maybe consider a black pick guard).
