Tina Turners music in the 80s/90s wasn't exactly my thing but there are *lots* of gems on the records with Ike (yeah I know it may not be in good taste to bring up Ike in this context...) though the albums tend to be uneven; I can recommend the comp "Funkier than a mosquitos tweezer" which has lots of cool stuff in a funk/soul/rock/blues fusion style. When she had the right material, she killed it and live, it was even better... one hell of a performer who influenced numerous future classic rock-era frontman dudes in spite of being female. R.I.P.!!!

I'm kind of wondering what the Brits on the board's opinions are of Amis.
British only by commonwealth standing, but Koba the Dread might be the worst book on Russian/Soviet history i have ever read (and that includes Anne Applebaum).

Tony McPhee of the Groundhogs: heavy riffs, heavy loss. My dad took me and my brother to see him tear up a pub somewhere up in Cheshire over thirty years ago.

Pat Robertson.

On 9/11/01 he said (I'm quoting from memory) "The gays and the abortionists have got to take some responsibility for this."

edit: OK, so Falwell said it. Then Robertson said "I totally concur."
