The voter turnout has been hovering between 50-60% for like a century. Thus I think you can pin the outcome on those "politically engaged" enough to show up at the polls and decided this was a good idea...these are the people you need to convince otherwise. But yeah, I find your central premise of voting for the lesser evil and then taking them to task for the next four years to be...exhausting and unconvincing.
In the last election I think it was mathematically proven not to have been a deciding factor.

I don't think any vote, or non vote in a presidential election is going to clean up some of the persistent problems with our political system. I'll continue to support any candidate who seems to be working on that, but I'm long past thinking a president is going to solve all of our problems. It's going to take a lot more than a cool president.

That said, if Harris had won a lot of people who are dead would be alive, and a lot more innocent people who are currently imprisoned would be free.

I'd say our best chance at some streak of authentic leftist thinking tinging a presidential mind is in 2028 though. I certainly don't want anyone to see Gavin Newsom as a foregone conclusion.

To reiterate, my issue is specifically with the leftist notion of lesser evilism - equating different levels of bad as the same. It's generally regarded as a leftist thing - someone remind me its etymology....I remember it from later philosophy.

In just about every single situation, there is always, always a preferable outcome to try to achieve. I hate incrementalism, but I hate losing human life and human rights more. So you vote to try and help achieve that.

As to the rest of the minutiae - noise. Vote to reduce harm if you can't vote your conscience, and stop acting like voting is some burden or fucking moral cross to bear. Literally 95% of the worlds population past and present would dream of having the ability to even vote and abstainers treat it like a fucking instagram poll.

Unseat? Her district was written out through gerrymandering. She's in the house running for senate.

Derp. Thanks for clarifying. I guess I need to follow Texas a little more carefully.

Either way, what little I've seen of these two I've liked.

I voted for her, my wife voted for him in this primary. I like her a lot, she has flaws. They all do. But again, they're a means to an end. A pawn. Usable parts.

This is happening in my backyard - this district has been split at least twice since we've lived in/near it. A democrat has won house seats here, upsetting incumbents in the last 10 year.

Dude, kudos to your wife. Never ever think about leaving her, may she bury you first.
