Yeah, and I don't mean literally. Even in flagrant mistakes like Iraq, we were being sold some narrative of being in the right. I haven't heard that delivered in any earnest manner here. The objective seems to be steal more oil. Does that make Trump more transparent than Bush?

Well, one’s an outlandish fabrication and the other is the most significant war crime of the new century. To compare a brutal crackdown on protests to a genocide is insane at best. If I were less charitable I would call it stupid and mean.

If we can recall the process of events that lead to replacing Saddam Hussein with Isis or Gaddafi with Isis or or or. It is possible to go from life under a dangerous military dictatorship to straight up medieval conditions. That’s bad to much, much worse by any metric.

Of course reasonable people in Iran would choose a better government if they could, just like we would, but that doesn’t give the US the right to bomb the country into oblivion before divvying up the rubble between marauding warlords.

It’s insane that the same justifications for the 2nd Iraq war are being handed out again, and they definitely shouldn’t go unchecked here. Believing in that shit is cop behavior and it sucks, especially now. People have to start developing defenses against misinformation because it’s only going to get worse.

35,000 is the estimate for Iranian protests. It’s actually around 75,000 for Gaza. My bad. Which of course makes it totally okay.

I also find the idea that the estimate for the Iranian protests are politicised, while the Gaza estimates coming from a Hamas run ministry of health problematic at best. It’s entirely possible both are correct or neither are.

I should remind you. It took the Israeli armed forces over two years to reach that number. The wizards in Iran got halfway there in a few weeks. Forgive me, I must have missed all the protests against the mass executions in Iran. But hopefully all the cranes normally used to hang gay men in public squares will be being diverted to clear rubble.

Mea culpa on the comparing atrocities. But I do find curated outrage undermines one as much as the other.

Just to be clear. Gaza is as a genocide. The current War of Choice is most likely a war crime. But I’m not shedding a single tear for any member of IRGC or Hamas that ends up a smear on a wall.

Among the many excellent reasons to fire Noem, the talk of an extra marital affair being one of them smacks of the most hypocritical patriarchy from these filthy MAGA boys. If people with questionable morals in their private lives shouldn't hold office then Trump shouldn't have had a first term. It's always weird when weaponized sexism takes down awful women.

In other news it seems more and more likely to me that Rubio fucked up and tipped his hand when he said the US had to attack Iran because Israel was going to strike. I can only dream that the frustrated rumblings about that from the right wing could maybe slightly reframe our Israel policy and inspire a correction in how politicians here deal with Netenyahu. He definitely seems to have accomplished the greatest slight of hand diplomacy of his career, and it makes so much sense that he was able to do it to Trump after failing the same trick on several predecessors. I picture some texts with titles like 'How to Get What You Want Out of Narcissists' behind his desk.

I only want to say that anybody willing to countenance killing people in other countries for rankling your sense of indulgent, pompous morality deserves Trump 100 times over. Certainly much more than an undecided voter does. You get what you deserve....you probably get more than you deserve.
