Apparently he confirmed on a podcast recently that the Sam Rockwell monologue was based on the transphobic theory that men transition to women due to a 'sexual kink'. Sounds like a cool guy.

The Walton Goggins storyline was the only redeemable part of the season, who wasn't even the first choice to play the character (that would be the one-note Woody Harrelson). I've forgotten nearly every other plot point and it hasn't even been a week (same for the other seasons). What a waste of Carrie Coon.

Black Mirror Season 7. I'm watching the first episode, "Common People", right now.

Black Mirror is hit or miss, but that first episode hits, and it hits hard.
The Giamatti episode broke me.
The 5th episode of the season, titled "Eulogy". If it's not the single best episode of Black Mirror, it's way up there.
The whole season is solid. Eulogy is masterful gen x sucker-punch, no doubt, but Common People might be the gem of the season…I was reduced to a pile of nothing…

This season's White Lotus wasn't the best but it was fine, entertaining, silly in parts. Mama got her bag but lost her principles. And what's with leaving out the blender like a slice of leftover pizza? Victoria Ratliff would be a pill in bed. I'd drink the sweat out of that Duke t-shirt. Saltburn the bathtub.

Watched 2073 on Max. My goodness. Is it a documentary? Is it sci-fi? I'm surprised not to have read - so far - any scuttlebutt from the right. Total bummer of a movie. Id recommend The Family miniseries by documentarian Jesse Moss for a better narrative but just as horrific.

Paired it with a rewatch of These Final Hours. Good apocalyptic flick.

Yeah, I think people are tuning into this expecting it to be high art because it's got subtitles, looks polished and has male nudity. But it's just a potboiler serial like Dallas or Dynasty. The exotic locations are a nice touch, but yeah, don't come looking for much in the way of actual substance or intrigue.

I see that now, but why the fuck was everyone raving about it before this?

The earlier seasons had to have had more going on or something.

I've been made to sit through all of them, but I can't remember anything that sticks out from the first two besides the locales. I think people just like the sordid sexy stuff and watching rich people backstab each other. And the bar seems pretty low overall these days.

The sex scenes getting crazier every year could actually be funny in more skilled hands (see what I did there)
They should have stopped with the neurotic hotel managers after the first one

My review of this season seems a bit like complaining to your table-mates about a dish you just about finished at a semi-fancy restaurant. There might be some endorsement implied in the quantity consumed, but not if we’re honest with ourselves about what a low bar that can be, especially at a place that should know better.

But, like the shitty pizza we got for dinner, I was too tired to do anything else.
I had a hard time watching the second season. I like Mike White a lot, but I am disinterested in stories about extremely dislikable people. I ain't got time for that.
