Pipedown is the only one I can think of. Listening to their albums they sound like the wouldn't deliver live (especially vocal-wise.) But every time I have a seen them they blow me away.

A recent show and one from long ago come to mind.
ESG at ATP in Camber Sands 2004 was amazing.
The Specials at the Main Act in Lynn Ma, circa 1980-81?, was beyond amazing.
If you couldn't move your body to either show, you might as well just call it quits.

Has someone said the Wrens yet? If not, then this rock band, Wrens. They brought it to a level I wouldnt have expected from listening to their records.
