dunno about Rics, but that's the result I get using flats on my Tele.

For the life of me I can't figure out why these aren't Travis Bean popular.
As Jerry Garcia is to the Bean, Mike Rutherford is to the Shergold - the odd player out.
Other famous players are/were Bernard Sumner while in Joy Division, Peter Hook (8 string bass) while in both bands, Julian Cope, Marty Willson-Piper (12 string), Graham Coxon (who also played a the similar Hayman), Adam Franklin.




Go to shergold.co.uk and look up the models produced. Check out the sister company, Hayman.

I'll also second the Yamaha SG2000. I have one with an ugly blue finish, but it will out play damn near anything.

One of my particularly retarded guitar-related decisions was to not buy a super-cheap Hayman 3030. They go for upwards of £1K these days. Very cool.

Then get a Shergold. They are nearly the same thing. The Re'an pickups are the key and they are built with the same quality. In fact, early Shergolds used leftover Hayman parts. Notice how the early models have the "German" style headstock.

As a UK citizen, you can find these things cheap. Get to it!

Man I hear this all the time, but I don't have any complaints from my ric. It's pretty much a tone machine. I find I can get alot out of it.

Maybe 5 years ago, but not now.

Well, "cheap" is subjective. You can still get the Meteors and Masqueraders for 350 pounds. I think that's pretty cheap because they are really great guitars.

Forget about it when you're talking double necks. That's when the Genesis fan come out, and we all know they are rich public school types with cash to burn.
Although Julian Cope plays one in that Brain Donor band.
