I think the word tump is overated.

Dump on/in the other hand is not.

Slayer
- Oh dear, now i'm in trouble. Sounds like metallica with balls.
Does that make them better? Yes. Do i care? No.

Devendra Banhart
- There was this band called Tyranosaurus rex that predated T.rex. I know this, devendra knows this. Pitchfork does not know this.

Todd Rundgren - Great songs, but utopia? and your rap records?
and your fronting the New Cars? fuck me with a rusty tump!( now it's a noun!)

The decemberists
- i am preaching to the choir at this point. i don't want to get what It is.

I am going to make this a little bit more fun..I will talk about some bands and people that had let me down..but keep in mind these opinions are those of me when I was ten years old or younger! Here we go:

1. K.C. of K.C. and the Sunshine Band: As a young tot, I was enthralled by the booty shaking machine that they were. All of those hit singles in the mid seventies were "da bomb". Until one day I was looking through a issue of 16 Magazine and saw a picture of K.C. and .....couldn't believe that he was not a black dude! He was white..or partially cuban..or something. I was shocked at this. I just assumed it was a black dude singing!

2. Elton John being allowed on the show "Soul Train" to perform the song "Philadelphia Freedom": There was just something wrong about this to me. What the fuck? I liked the duet with Kiki Dee much better. Elton John had let me down!

3. The Jackson Five: I bought this one record by them called "Stand" and its contents were horrible! I believe that the record was put out by a company called Pickwick..not Motown. It seemed like I was buying a album version of one of those cheap truckstop cd's that featured a band's less engaging output plus one good song. Plus I just assumed that anyone named Tito would have to be the leader of the band. Wrong again..

4. All of those secondary K-Tel ripoff compilations where they hired some studio musician hacks to recreate "the hits" of the seventies:
Sadly I was duped a few times on these cheap knock-offs. I almost cried as a eight year old. Talk about pathetic..then again I was only eight years old..

5. David Bowie: I was made aware of David Bowie when he started to enter his Adolph Hitler on speed phase, i.e. "Golden Years" and "Fame". I really liked these songs even though I thought that they were actually in reality kind of...creepy. When I saw a picture of him finally, I was sort of...scared. I was more scared of him then let down. What a weirdo. My father fucking HATED David Bowie. I eventually learned to love his seventies run of music. Hasn't put out a good record since "Scary Monsters".

6. Kiss: This was the first rock band that I dug. I got their record "Rock And Roll Over" at the end of 1976. I totally bought into anything Kiss related for a good couple years until they put out that spellbindingly bad made for t.v. movie called "Kiss meets the Phantom of the Park". When you are between the ages of ten and twelve, and you can still pick up the fact that your intelligence is being insulted, you know it is bad. Luckily, Cheap Trick, UFO, Van Halen, Aerosmith and AC/DC were around the corner.

when i was younger i read a rave review of "In Ribbons" by the band Pale Saints on the Italian mag Rockerilla.

i bought it convinced i was about to hear a masterpiece.
i have never bought a record basing myself on a favorable magazine review ever since.

Explosions in the Sky, Mono, Sigur Ros, Pelican et al

I am sick to fucking death of this shit. twee Twee TWee TWEe TWEE CrEsCeNdO! 'Post Rock', for lack of a better term, has become exactly what Fat/Epitaph melodic punk was in the mid 90's. It all sounds exactly the same and it's all fucking garbage. The worst part is that I don't think it's going to die anytime soon.
HELLO!

I forgot about Sigur Ros. They are treated like the second coming and they totally suck.
That singer is up there for worst vocalist of all time, along with Dave Matthews, Sting, John Mayer and Tim Buckley. The vocals in every song on that 3rd album sound the same. I listened to it once and sold it back.
The Takk album sounds like a video game. So bad.
