the grateful gov't phish mule - why you would want to listen to a band just "jam" all the time is beyond me. maybe if they could write good songs once, they'd want to repeat it...but apparently every concert has to be some new adventure into wankville. like, anyone can jam...we all jam with our friends and most of the time it sounds like shit, doesn't it...so why would you want to watch a bunch of old white guys work on ideas? the only cool thing phish ever did was cover "rhinoceros."
a notable exception to that group is DMB...i can't stand the fans, and they put out too much material in too short a time...but at least those dudes can play. i'm not even a huge fan...like, i only own crash, and i feel no need to wear hemp, but good musicians are always nice to watch, no matter what they're playing. i mean, zeppelin jammed all the time, but it rocked cause they knew what the fuck they were doing.

Nay.
The show where they covered all of "Dark Side of the Moon," complete with Trey Anastasio (I assume) wailing the female vocals on Great Gig in the Sky was, by the recording I have, nothing short of hilarious. Closing the set with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was also very, very funny.
Trust me.

I think that they used to cover an album in its entirety for their Halloween show each year. One year they did Talking Heads' "Remain in Light."
I'd like to hear that. I think it could be cool. But I'm not willing to wade through the psuedo-hippie underground to find a copy.

I have it. It's cool, but not that cool. I got it because I used to work with a Phish fan and we were good friends, so I got her to tape it for me. If you want it, send a PM and I could probably find it and copy it for you.
Why do you make it so scary to post here.

Thanks for the offer, but it's probably not worth the effort.
If I ever come across a Phishhead with a phat bootleg collection, I'll make him play it for me, though.
I think they also did a VU album. And the White Album, which seems like a lot of work for one concert.
If they had stuck to covers, they wouldn't have been so boring.

Weezer (post-Pinkerton)
Don't worry, noone is supposed to like weezer post pinkerton.
My one and only defensive reaction to this statement would be defense for the song "Glorious Day" off of that lime-green album (EP?)
Although I think a case could be made for stupid lyrics, I really like how the music goes on that tune.

88didn't trey anastasio / phish also cover the entire white album live? not that this is a good thing, but you know... maybe that will be left for another topic opposite of this one.
i have always felt like i should like beat happening. i basically bought everything they ever put out looking for that one song that would make me change my mind but it never happened. they just sorta blow, regardless of good, lo-fi and fantastically homosexual intentions.

89People seem to like Interpol. They bore me to death.
Oh oh oh! Firey Furnaces - Blueberry Boat! Apparently we're supposed to like it! "Because, like, it's big! Operatic, even! Massive in scope!" But the songs are atrocious. "But... scope!" No.
People like Wolf Eyes. I prefer to scream over my radiator.
