Until reading this board, I had never heard of this band. (I have no idea how this happens, but it happens.) So, i ordered and recieved some CDs. Just listened to Hissing Prigs.

Wow. What a fantastic band. And, as mentioned above, they don't appear to have any obvious influences.

Thanks EA Forum.

P.S. Now I understand New Black and IfIhadahifi.

totally meant as a compliment. I have listened to and liked your band and the New Black. I was having a little trouble finding a handle on it, if you know what I mean. Context was not there.

Brainiac provides context. Of course Brainiac is more than context.

Alas, there are many find bands that I never saw live. Each one of us can say that without reservation. But I have seen so many shows. And quite a few of them were fucking amazing. See "bands that bring it" thread.

choppy has completed his sacred task of digitizing the last two Brainiac shows i ever saw, and i have loaded them into the eaforums3 gmail account (the eaforums2 account seemed to be getting pretty full).

The first show is from 10.25.96 at the Concert Cafe, Green Bay. It was recorded on a hand-held Marantz field recorder with (i believe) an SM-57 mic, and recorded onto standard cassette tape. That one was operated by my pal Nicole.

The second is from the C-haus in Beloit, Wisconsin, April 18, 1997, about a month before the accident. Same recording setup, only i think we just put the recorder in a corner of the room or something.

The Green Bay show is notable because is includes the unreleased songs "Crash" and "Ice Melts Away," as well as "Flash Ram" and "Mr. Fingers" from Electro-Shock. Beloit has "Crash," "Flash Ram," "Mr. Fingers," and the show opens with "Fresh New Eyes."

Thanks to choppy for digitizing this shit for us.

I have a copy of the April 16, 1997 show at The Side Door in St. Louis. It really was a great show. I'm glad that I got to see them live.

Glenn, If you have a way of sharing that April 16th show, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I PM'd DrAwkward about this. I don't have the ability to make a digital copy of the tape. What I can do is make a cassette copy for someone who can then digitize it, and maybe that person can put it on the sendspace thread or something. kerble or DrAwkward, let me know if either one of you want to do it.

Also on the cassette tape: Lake of Dracula @ Vintage Vinyl (St Louis-May 24,1997) and Xerobot @ Cicero's (St Louis- October 12, 1996.)
