A few releases I've enjoyed this year:

Throbbing Gristle - Part Two: The Endless Not

Perfect album from a great band.

Times New Viking - Present The Paisley Reich

Super-tinny, hissy, lo-fi, paper-thin, pop anthems.

Kammerflimmer Kollektief - Jinx

Restrained, focused, gorgeous experiments with sound.

White Rabbits - Fort Nightly

In time I might think otherwise, but for now this is a fun, catchy, dark indie-rock album. Whatevs.

Clockcleaner - Babylon Rules

Messy.

Parts and Labor - Mapmaker

Soaring, noisy, and anthemic.

Piano Magic - Part Monster

I like this band. 4ADish all up in my grill.

(((microwaves))) - Contagion Heuristic

Ralph Records meets Skin Graft

They Shoot Horses Don't They - Pick Up Sticks

Weird, facked-up record. TFUL282 and Beefheart fucking in a circus tent.

Black Dice - Load Blown

NOT CRAP!

Shellac - Excellent Italian Greyhound

Not having seen many Shellac performances between Pine Tar .406 & T&G's 25th Anniversary shows I was unfamiliar with what many have already heard. Fresh music for me to enjoy.

In terms of re-issues, The Chumps' The Problem With Saxophones, and Pylon's Gyrate Plus keep me moving, and my favorite compilation I picked up this year is Lake of Dracula's Skeletal Remains. Props to Siouxsie's Mantaray. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot more. Most shit I've been turned on to this year is soooo not 2007: Exuma, New Brutalism, Holy Sons, Swirlies (God, yes, the Swirlies), and I also have been falling deeper in love with a completely derivative orchestral-pop band from Canada called the Heavy Blinkers.

2007!

Robert Wyatt - Comicopera
Shellac - Excellent Italian Greyhound
STNNNG - Fake Fake
Dhat - [6 song EP]
Glenn Gould - The Complete Original Jacket Collection
Severe Thunderstorm - [field recording]
Bear Claw - Slow Speed: Deep Owls
Cheer-Accident - Variations on a Goddamn Old Man, Vol 2.1

I'll be picking up the new Low album as soon as I can. Having my own damnit record see the light of day has been nice, too.

How did I forget this one? I wasn't so hot on this album on the first listen, but it's growing on me. I really like the vocal effects on the first track.

"The Worm Waits Its Turn" is the high point for me. It sounds current while still being completely representative of their aesthetic/m.o./etc. I've yet to hear PTV3's Hell is Invisible...Heaven is Her/e. For some reason I harbor more of a hesitation to be receptive to it. I instinctively felt that the new TG was going to sound special; PTV?
