Yes, though the only people who seem to know who he is are either obscenely old or else really into rockabilly culture.

You forgot a third option: From Tennessee

I have seen Tennessee waltz performed more times than I can count. Probably more than Foggy Mountain Breakdown. Easily more.

True! I've only known two people who hailed from Tennessee, so I often forget that's the state's anthem and such.

There's a really awesome old photo sitting on my piano back in WI of my grandpa and Pee Wee posing with their guitars on a bluff somewhere, back in the 1930s. I wish I had scanned that before I moved.

Also, if I remember correctly, he was the first person to use an amplifier at the Grand Ole Opry.

i drove to Minneapolis for a weekend with a friend to see Bob Mould at First Ave. this was '98 or '99 i guess... on the day my friend had to be home to work some shit job Elliott Smith was playing. same venue i believe. i just could not talk him into saying. offered to pay for the night and everything. so i guess that makes me a bit jealous of you... i'm still hooked on those early albums.

On the final tour with the Murder Junkies.

I will never forget/regret this experience.

Missed 5 consecutive Fugazi tours of PDX, for various sane and inane reasons. Only to finally catch them on the End Hits tour. They were good, but the openers were even better. THE EX!

My Father and I had planned on going to Seattle a few years back to see McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones performing in a duo. Restaurant pressure's made this impossible. 2 months later Elvin died.
