This isn't the entire interview (which is hilarious all the way through), but this could be Norm MacDonald's finest moment in entertainment:

Those Jeopardy sketches were funny, but
lifted from SCTV.

Ace wrote:As someone whose relative worked at SNL for 25 years, I think I can make a list of the worst:
Chevy Chase
Adam Sandler
Adam McKay
David Spade
Robin Duke
Chris Parnell
Rachel Dratch
Will Forte
Fred Armisen
Amy Poehler
I'm gonna add in Dennis Miller, not because he wasn't funny, but just because behind the scenes he was a pretty huge asshole.
Of course, I think Norm MacDonald was probably one of the funniest people ever.
Ahh yes...I forgot about David Spade. That smarmy little twerp has always been annoying as fuck. I've even taken some guilty pleasure in sitting on my fat ass and watching Just Shoot Me, thinking 'huh, this show has its moments but none of them involve David should be Spade'.

NBC officially announced Monday, during a press conference, that Jimmy Fallon will be the new “Late Night” host, replacing Conan O’Brien who will take Jay Leno’s place on “The Tonight Show.”
I wish I could set up some sort of gladiatorial games where Jimmy Fallon and Carson Daley had to fight to the death. I'd tell them that the winner will win his freedom and some big money prize. After it was over I'd go in like I was going to congratulate the winner and give him his money, and I'd shoot him in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun instead.

Marsupialized wrote:The absolute funniest thing I've ever seen on snl was a skit, Dana Carvey was playing Johnny Carson showing old clips from the tonight show. At some point he explains that one night Burt Reynolds was guest host and things got a little out of hand. The clip they play has Burt Reynolds played by maybe Norm Macdonald and Dom Deluise played by Chris Farley completely shitfaced laughing and whatnot. They keep showing more clips from that episode and in each they are more fucked up, in one Farley is laughing so hard he pees in his pants, the final one they are standing on the stage in their underwear throwing pies at each other.
I wish I could find a video of it somewhere man was that shit funny, I saw it once when I was younger and I have been laughing at it ever since. I laughed nonstop for about a week right after. Now, at least once a day the image will pop into my head of him pissing in his pants and I'm off on a giggle spree. Someone please find a video of this skit, I will pay top dollar!
i remember this sketch and yes, it was fucking brilliant.
as was any Carsinio bit.
and i'm glad somebody posted the Tim Meadows "princess and the homeboy" sketch, which was a personal favorite of mine from the rough mid 90s episodes.
i am bored at work and it is my goal to find that Carson sketch online.

The Celebrity Jeopardy! sketches were really funny, but the really funny thing there was Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery. I like Ferrell anyway.
Colin Quinn and Kevin Nealon sucked really hard on the Weekend Update. The two worst anchors by far.
I was going to say something in defense of Jimmy Fallon but I realized I can't remember any funny thing he did on the show so I think that's it. The defense rests... well, fuck it, he's not funny.

These guys were shitty on SNL, but I could picture them being funny somewhere else:
Horatio Sanz
Colin Quinn
Unremarkable on SNL and much funnier somewhere else:
Chris Rock
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Rob Riggle
Not funny ever under any circumstances:
Jimmy Fallon
This is just among the better-known and more recent people, though. There's probably an unlimited number of unknown terrible people from the early '80s when Lorne Michaels wasn't running it.
Maya Rudolph being really terrible? I don't see it. I always thought she was okay. This could be because I'd really like to bone her.
I actually think the cast has been really good for a couple of years now, ever since they cleared out some less-funny people. Writing is a little shakier, but cast is good now. Anyone who doesn't think Kristen Wiig is funny is insane.
I always find it funny how everyone always thinks the show's bad right now but was okay three years ago. Then, three years later, it's always "no, 3 years ago was great before this guy left, now it sucks." Mid-late '90s really did suck, though. I think they leaned more heavily than ever on shitty recurring characters. Did Mango and the cheerleaders ever get a laugh out of anyone over 12?

One character, Alfalfa.
I liked Tim Kazurinsky as the guy who owned the pervy bakery.
It was a Carvel in King of Prussia plaza, King of Prussia PA.
