The entire history of rock 'n' roll is predicated on white kids trying to act/look/sound black. Where would Elvis Presley or Mick Jagger be without this concept?

For my money, Vanilla Ice is far more offensive than Sublime. Sublime are unremarkably mediocre within their genre (ska-core and its offshoots), while Vanilla Ice incorporates nearly everything that is flawed and false within a genre (hip hop) that has produced some excellent, bracing music.

Also, with Brad Nowell dead, Sublime have little impact on music in the here and now. Vanilla Ice could make a comeback any day now, a prospect that sometimes robs me of my sleep.

Macarena!

I don't understand why did you bold "Breakfast.."?

Having never heard the band, I just made a point of listening to "Santeria" by this band Sublime, since there seems to be a consensus that this is their lone "good" song.

You people are fucked. That is some extraordinarily lame and shitty music right there.

You are in an enviable position if you've made it this far without having to hear Sublime.

I don't know, there are many, many terrible bands around (mostly near colleges) that cop the Sublime bullshit style. Not too many Vanilla Ice clones around. I mean, people woke up and realized Vanilla Ice blew but it's been over 10 years since the sublime guy died and people still eat up that white reggae/mellow surfer douchery with a hemp-crafted plastic spoon.
