Wow, I just saw this. I really enjoyed Bernie Mac's sense of humor and it seemed like he was a really nice human being as well. This is a shame. R.I.P.

Ocean's Eleven was viewed tonight in memory of Mr. Mac.
Thanks for the laughs, Bernie. "They might as well call it Whitejack!"

Ace killed Bernie Mac. That's fucked up.
R.I.P. Your show was something to do after Malcolm in the Middle.

Yeah this is really sad. I always had a soft spot for him and I thought his show was a great piece of ‘light entertainment’. From what I can remember, it was funny, just sentimental enough and dealt with issues like rehab without resorting to showing a baby crawling on a ceiling or some shit.
Anyway... RIP, you funny, funny man

I'm pretty sure when I mentioned to my mom that I looked up his address on a whim, and found out that he lived a few doors down from an old high school friend, my mom said, "They offed him" or something odd like that. I said, "What?". She said that they canceled his show or something. I didn't even know it was still on...
The Bernie Mac show ran from '01-'06, maybe she was talking about in syndication.
and it didn't get cancelled, he had to stop making it because of fatigue/exhaustion type problems that had him going to the hospital. at least that's what he said on some teevee show where they were interviewing him about it. something about making a film and teevee show at the same time. he was all sick back then. maybe that's part of why he died at 51? the pneumonia thing makes me wonder if it wasn't something else behind everything, but I won't speculate.
I liked his style a lot. and I just found out he was from the south side of Chicago. so that's cool.
RIP, guy

Aside from whether or not you enjoy his comedy, a couple dudes I used to work at Midway with grew up with him. I got to meet him when he flew out one day. He was a real swell guy, they all agreed. Never had a bad word to say about him. These are people that had a bad word to say about EVERYONE. It's a shame.
