Pantera were, hands down, a "good" band. In what sense? In the sense that they could probably have all suffered major head injuries, hearing loss, or mangled limbs and still managed to play their songs together as tight as a machine and christ-rapingly loud.
Whether or not one values those things in a band is another question. But if one believes that the interplay between band members - that kind you can only get when 4 people play insanely fast music with one another for a long, long time - is something to behold, then they were something to behold.

11/28/03 - There has always been a kinship between strippers and Pantera. Gaggles of exotic dancers have shed their clothes to songs like COWBOYS FROM HELL and a Russian stripper stationed in South Florida calls herself Pantera. Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul are so obsessed with adult clubs themselves that they started their own Dallas nudie joint, the Clubhouse.
So it makes sense that when Dime and Vinnie wanted feedback on some new music they recorded with their post-Pantera band, Damageplan, they reached out to some real professionals: They picked up six dancers from the Dallas gentleman's"These girls were all 17 and 18 and had some big ol' jumbo fake Texas titties on," gloats Vinnie, sitting inside a dark record company office that's lit by a single candle. "We put the CD on, the shots of liquor are flowing, and the girls are jumping up and down, going crazy. Next thing you know, they're all fucking naked and we're having a good time. But the bottom line is they loved the music. I expected them to turn their noses up because they're 15 years younger than me, but they were like, 'This kicks fucking ass. Let's take our clothes off and do some shots.'"

i don't know if this has been mentioned yet but is was exactly 24 years to day that john lennon was killed........freaky
That's the first thing I thought of. I doubt he knew.
I think he was just mad Pantera broke up.

Don't you have other things to do than arguing about "Darrell died and oh god it's sad"-"Darrell died and oh god that's fucking funny"-"Darrell died and oh god you think it's funny"-"Pantera kicked ass"-"Pantera was fucking shite"....
I mean like playing music,talking with your girlfriend,playing with your kid(s),having a beer with some mates,watching The Simpsons on Sky,having sex,reading a book or something else for fuck sake!!!
For sure,it's the first time I take time to read every post....
I admit Pantera was great and at least more interesting than Sepultura.
So just play "Far Beyond Driven" in your fucking stereo,blast it fucking loud and then you have the best tribute to Darrell's death.

I love posts like this. Like you'd have to be a complete idiot to take time out of your rich fulfilling life to discuss this topic, but it makes perfect sense to take time out to discuss
the discussion of the topic.
