You might snag a used copy of Voodoo Lounge if you see one. It's not a great record, but there are definitely some worthwhile songs on there--and it sounds way better than their other recent records. Todd Brashear played five songs off of it on a jukebox when we were shooting pool once, and I was amazed that there were five good Stones songs that I was unfamiliar with.

I thought "One Hit (To the Body)" off of Dirty Work was a damn good single, too.

Kerble, Steve et al . . . 49,999 friends and I missed you at Churchill Downs last night. The highlight for me was Keith singing (and not playing) "You Got the Silver," as well as , given the venue, the obligatory "Dead Flowers." Opening act Alice Cooper even busted out "You Drive Me Nervous," and his young, angry band was in full twin-lead glory. Despite the rain, it was worth every penny--all 25,000 of 'em!

Since I inexplicably never really gave the Stones the time of day - hearing them on the radio was enough, really, and I only own a few of their records, I have been spending some Quality Time listening to their "good albums"* and the "companion tracks" of the demos to those albums, when available.

I can't call them crap, but they are not as mindblowing as I wish they would be.

I like how these particular albums have marginally filthy lyrics about drug use and sex sex sex. As a kid, I was only dimly aware of this stuff, and as an adult I am tickled that this stuff got as much airplay as it did.
