Wanted a Firebird for years, couldn’t afford a proper one, so I built one from a kit from Guitar Kit Fabric:

I finished it with 4 coats of danish oil tinted with burnt sienna oil paint, wet sanding the first couple of coats in order to create a grain filling slurry of oil and wood dust, and then 2 coats of Briwax on top. The hardware as supplied in the kit is garbage, so I fitted some Warman Firebuckers. I’ll replace the tuners too, and do a touch of fret levelling as there’s a couple of high spots. It didn’t take long to sort the nut. It sounds and plays pretty great though, mildly uneven frets and all, I’m very pleased.
