Hell yeah to you and your partner TDP!!!

I mentioned this a month or two ago, and things were still somewhat up in the air, but I do have prostate cancer and will be getting surgery in January to deal with it. While I'm not psyched about this, it is localized and it's very likely the surgery will be all that's ever needed. There are some recovery aspects that will take some time, but I will be back on my feet the next day. Folks with prostates: do please get your PSA levels checked. Prostate cancer is very common (like, if you live long enough, you'll probably get it), but it's very slow to progress, and very treatable when localized.

I don't know if it was full on cancerous but my dad has had things removed before so I'll certainly be checking for it down the line.

Thanks! Not to diminish this, but it's pretty straightforward. The surgery is a robotic assisted deal and I get a few small incisions below the bellybutton, and whoop-de-do. I consider it like a stock preventative procedure, like removing an appendix, and it's not like, the battle-with-cancer that so many folks have to endure.

Today I had my prostate cancer surgery. I’m in a little pain and want to sleep, but I wanted to say it went really well. I’ll elaborate later, but wanted folks to know, and also gently mind people to have your screenings. Early detection may have saved my life.

Wow twelvepoint I just got caught up on this, sorry to hear you had to have it but glad the surgery went well!

Thanks for the well-wishes! I just got discharged and I’m feeling tired and my abdomen hurts. But my care was awesome, and the robotic surgery allowed a faster recovery than conventional surgery, plus it’s a lot more gentle with the nerves that pass thru that area. Get those PSA levels tested, folks with prostates!
