It's so weird that I'd posted about this on bsky two months ago, and suddenly my post about it took off. It's a fascinating article, though!

I'm knee-deep and enthralled. One thing though, at one point it says:
“He left no stone unturned,” Zax said admiringly. He pointed out that there are real similarities between Stanyan’s business model and that of, say, legendary DIY label Dischord in the 1980s
I'm not sure what this is referring to. Did Dischord make an assload of merch back in the day?

Yeah, that's unclear. I read it as "released a lot of stuff," but the difference is that McKuen's stuff is all his while all those Dischord releases are lots of different bands.
