82I've been trying to shrink that pic to 6kb all weekend.

83So, here's a thing: I've been a huge proponent of 3-ply Ludwigs for years. Anybody who knows me knows I won't shut up about it.
But lately, I've been playing some six plies at a rehearsal space, and I think I may have spent a lot of years misunderestimating them. 3-plies have a really low timbre, a lot of thump, and are the Sound of the '60s. The six ply drums are LOUD and kind of scooped, with a ton of projection in the low mids. It's made me rethink a lot of things.
And if you're the DFW area, you might want to check out this kit:
Cortex is the most bulletproof finish Ludwig ever put on a set of drums. These would be PERFECT noise rock drums. Loud, tough, durable.

90The Carvin X-100Bs are great amps and one of the best values around. SUPER versatile if you need one amp to do many things (pretty damn well too I might add). I can't speak to the guts, but to me, the dirty channel sounds a lot like my 2204 and the clean channel is great for pedal-heads. Great reverb too. Every time I come back to this one I sometimes wonder why I bought all these other amps when I probably had no real need to do so.
I think $450 is an excellent deal for a complete all-tube head AND speaker cab half-stack (w/out the rat fur). Also, the X-100b is the model of amp John from Nonagon has been using for 20+ years.
