It's literally 10 minutes from the outer suburbs like Rosemount or Burnsville and 25-30 minutes from St. Paul. People act like it's Evansville or Ely or Watkins. It's not. Not even in 1993.
It seemed like Grohl was the one to make a big deal about that in the recent Conan interview, who grew up around DC. Novoselic and Albini, from more remote places, didn't say as much.
Shit man, Minnesota is remote for most people.

They could have made it at Paisley Park. Grohl could have been supplanted by Symbol's Linn Drum.

So, due to a lengthy thought process that occurred after watching the one video of the Linn machine on YouTube that isn't just some asshole talking about stuff nobody cares about instead of cutting to the sound of the machine, I have another confession: I like Dethklok.

The thought process went like this: after listening to a demo of the Linn LM-1, I started wondering what it would sound like on a black metal album. Then I had this thought that my brother and I were sort of working on a pseudo black metal concept album about going to Fleet Farm, and then I thought it would be cool to use cheesy 80s drum machine samples for the lulz and to get out of actually having to play drums. Then I could just make up a backstory for a fake band, like a metal dork and a pop dork with no friends being forced to play music together after being expelled from Sweden to Wisconsin by an unruly primary school teacher. And then I realized that I really like fake bands with goofy backstories, and then I arrived at Dethklok.

I don't pretend that the inner machinations of my mind make any sense. Actually, since I have a master's degree, really, your assumption should be that my brain is just one big roulette wheel of random nonsense.

Portishead called that album Third because it's their third-best album!

I thoroughly enjoyed all of that. Keep spinning.

This might be for the Metal Confessions thread:
Dethklok may be a joke but they're just as good as "real" black metal bands.
