My mother in law takes this to the extreme, never finishing anything and it's infuriating.

I should say that this is the only thing about my mother in law that is frustrating, so you can see how much of a problem sixthing is.
Realtime update: My mother in law came home, had already cut a muffin - ate half, and left the other half on the counter, "in case you want it."

Sixthing seems like it has roots in some kind of puritanical/Iron Cage condemnation of gluttony, or more accurately the perception of gluttony. Would you sixth anything in your own home? Or is it only when we're talking about public domain food? It kind of feels like it should fall into the same category as "Ope!"

Was reminded today that I have donuts with dad tomorrow morning at my 4th graders school.
It'll be like I'm a reporter walking right into battle to deliver the harsh realities from the front lines.
My daughter also claims that she's never seen anyone carve up a donut for any reason, so I'd like to get that obvious bias out into the open now.

Kids that age also go into fucking freezing water and feel nothing. She's not a reliable judge.
