He used to make up stuff like that.
There's some truth in that. It's understandable why Kenny Loggins was able to adapt to the video era better than, say, the members of Toto.

Then again, Mark Knopfler had a big MTV hit so who knows.
That Yacht Dock is pretty good. made my friend who really hates Toto appreciate them at least. "They gave all their good stuff to other artists." Hahahaha.

Toto had a couple popular songs on MTV.

Agree that Cross's looks had something to do with his inability to remain relevant, but also he mostly (99%) sucked.

Massive for a very brief time in the 90s but I really can’t think of anything lasting about his music. Huge briefly then zero shadow.
Mellow Gold will be rediscovered. It's one of the better 'pop' records of that decade. Just needs time.

One Foot in the Grave is wonderful.

But on topic - Taylor Swift. I cannot say that I have heard one single song of hers. Seems like a cool person but musically?

Time will tell whether her songs have any kind of 'legacy', but the Eras tour smashed all the live show $$$ records. And this was 15+ years after she released her first record.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

I just want to point out that John Denver is one of maybe four "western artists" who has two songs that the entirety of Asia adores. A trip to any tourist trap will include one of, if not both, "Leaving On A Jet Plane" and/or "Country Roads Take Me Home."

It is excruciating. Neither song is bad, but excruciating nonetheless.

Back to the topic at hand - Blind Melon released one of the greatest albums of the 1990's and yet they are remembered as the "bee girl" band. Funny how a legacy works.
